Fire-resistant glass

The following criteria are used to evaluate the fire resistance of the glass:

  • ·        Integrity – capability to protect from flames or hot gases.
  • ·        Thermal insulation - heat retention.

Only integrity (Class E) provides partial protection – in a case of fire it has a capability to protect from flames or hot gases for some time, however, the deficiency of these glasses is intensive heat release.

Integrity + thermal insulation (EI) provides a complete protection – in a case of fire it has a capability to protect from flames or a hot gas for some time for some time as well as the thermal insulation is provided. It means that the temperature in the opposite side of the glass, in a case of fire, does not exceed 140°C. These glasses are thick and heavy.

Integrity + limited thermal insulation (EW class) is between E and EI class glass when taking into the consideration the features, protection level, thickness and weight.
